Meditations on First Philosophy

A new edition of René Descartes's classic philosophy work, one of the most influential works in all of philosophy. This book is made up of six meditations, where Descartes at first discards belief in everything, and then step-by-step tries to work his way back to belief in what can be known for sure. This work provides the most detailed explanation of Descartes's metaphysical system, expanding upon the ideas set forth in the forth part of his Discourse on Method. This edition utilizes a translation by John Veitch (1829-1894) as reprinted in 1912.
