About the Authors Becky Savage Becky is the mother of Nick and Jack and the co-founder of the 525 Foundation. She is a prevention specialist and has been a registered nurse for over 30 years. She is a sought-after national speaker who educates teens, parents, first responders, and school officials on the dangers of prescription drug misuse. Becky is passionate about primary prevention through outreach, education, and support. She has a BS in nursing from Ball State University and an MS in nursing education from Bethel University. Becky and her husband Mike love spending time at Donnell Lake, Michigan with their two young adult sons, Justin and Matt. When Becky is not out on the lake or at home in Granger, Indiana, she can be found at an ice rink somewhere, or chasing her crazy dogs Tucker, Cash, Sadie and Josie. Nick Savage Nick was a steady 19-year-old with a calm demeanor and contagious smile. He was a first-year student at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he was majoring in chemistry and microbiology. During Nicks tenure on the hockey team at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana, he led his teammates to the state runner-up title. Coaches and teammates say he led by example, both on and off the ice. Nick loved playing ice hockey, riding dirt bikes, and listening to music. Nick especially enjoyed the family lake house on Donnell Lake in southwest Michigan, where he liked to be out on the pontoon boat, or around the bonfire, with friends. Nick lost his life on June 14, 2015, due to an accidental overdose at a friends graduation party. Jack Savage Jack was an adventurous 18-year-old with a crooked smile and infectious laugh who graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana. Jack was captain of the state championship ice hockey team, where coaches and teammates say he led by example. Jack loved ice hockey, hunting, waterskiing, racing dirt bikes, and time around the bonfire. His favorite family pastime was wrestling with his brothers whom he affectionately called his bros and having fun with his friends at the family lake house on Donnell Lake in southwest Michigan.
