Taking note of tiny changes in tonal value, which will help bring a piece to life, making it look three-dimensional and as though you could reach in and sink your fi ngers into the fur. The catchlights in the eyesnot just the bright white ones, but the subtler ones in the bottom of the eyes as well. The layering of color, as well as softly blending. This project demonstrates why its always a good idea to get darker areas in from the beginning, as they set the scene for the rest of the drawing. Understanding their tonal values can be tricky, but its easier when youre drawing something thats just black and white.
