FROM THE PUBLISHER About the Author Sebastin Robiou-Lamarche, obtained a Ph. D. in History from the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe (San Juan, Puerto Rico), where he serves as faculty. His major contributions are in the study of how these Antillean cultures related their mythological beliefs and astronomical knowledge to their religion and societal practices. He has published numerous books and articles and participated in academic symposia. He founded Fundacin Cultural Educativa, Inc., an organization dedicated to promoting cultural events, and Editorial Punto y Coma, a publishing house of cultural titles. He was born in Santo Domingo and resides in San Juan.
