In 1921, she became the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for her novel, The Age of Innocence. A prolific author of full-length novels, as well as novellas and short-stories, among her other well-known works include Ethan Frome, The House of Mirth, The Custom of the Country, and the Old New York series of novellas.
