At night, Katherine even tried to count all the stars in the sky! She soon became known as a math whiz As Katherine grew older, her love of math grew, too. She enjoyed working on math problems and she could solve complex problems easily. She did so well in school that she graduated from high school at age 13. Katherine was one of the first Black women at NASA Her math skills helped NASAs best engineers learn more about space. Katherine figured out different paths to get to and from the moon and also wrote reports explaining how to use the stars as guides in case of emergency. Her legacy lives on today Katherine always reached for the stars! No matter what stood in her path, she pushed the limits and encouraged others to do the same.
