This book is dedicated to my old friend Tokitae. It pays homage to a being of amazing spirit and resilience. One, who through her decades of service to humans, deserves nothing less than her freedom, her family and her future. I hope to foster the understanding that Toki is a sentient and intelligent individual, with a distinct and wonderful personality and personhood. I share my perceptions, memories, observations and feelings of the years we spent together to shine a light on her situation and perhaps to help others understand, love and help this brilliant whale.
