Later, the editor left and put 18-year-old Stan in charge! Stan was excited to create something new and different. Instead of following trends, he created new ones Timely Comics changed its name to Atlas Comics before it finally became Marvel Comics. Stan wrote a story with new characters, then asked his old friend Jack Kirby to bring them to life. Jack worked on the art, and in 1961 the Fantastic Four became an instant success Stan was an innovator in comic books With a talented group of artists, Stan co-created new heroes like Thor, Iron Man, and the X-Men.
