There are a number of websites and guidebooks with information about things to do in the park, but children have a different idea of what fun is. For example, Harley will hike for miles just to get a big, beautiful view, but children are more hands-on. They dont care much for views; they would rather interact with their surroundings. Put kids near a creek and they can spend hours along its banks watching the current swirl around rocks, float-ing stick and leaf boats downstream, building miniature dams and water diversions, or watching the myriad kinds of insect life carry on their activities. And if as adults we thrill at the thought of adding certain iconic animals such as bison or wolves to our bucket list, our children may find just as much joy in watch-ing a playful marmot up close or seeing a relatively common deer wander by their tent. In other words, if you want to make your Yellowstone vacation memorable for your kids, you need to adopt a new outlook on which activities you partake in and how you approach them.
